What Are Highlights?
Highlights in Scroll let you mark important text in your eBooks. They’re great for drawing attention to key ideas so you can find them quickly later. You can use different colors to categorize types of information, which helps organize your study or review sessions more efficiently.
How to Create a Highlight
- Open the Highlights Tool
Select the Highlights icon or button (often in the left-panel or toolbar) to activate highlight mode. - Select the Text
Use your finger, mouse, or cursor to select the portion of text you wish to highlight. - Choose a Color
Once text is selected, you’ll see a color palette or options in the top panel. Pick the color you want for that highlight. - Save the Highlight
After choosing the color, apply the highlight. It will then become visible in the eBook and saved for future access.
How to Access Your Highlights Later
- Go to My Data → Highlights to see all your highlights collected in one place.
- Each highlight shows which chapter it’s in.
- You can also see when (date & time) the highlight was created.
- The highlight icon will reflect the color you chose, so you can visually scan them.
Filtering Highlights
- There is a Filter option in My Data-Highlights.
- Select the filter icon to see options for filtering by highlight color.
- You can check/uncheck specific color boxes to show only highlights of those chosen colors.

Tips & Troubleshooting
- If the highlight tool doesn’t appear, the particular book may have highlighting disabled by the publisher.
- Make sure text is fully loaded before selecting—sometimes images or layout delays can interfere.
- If highlights aren’t showing up in My Data, ensure the content has synced (internet connection) and that you saved them properly.
- Using distinct colors for different themes (definitions, examples, questions) can make filtering later more helpful.
