How to Add Sticky Notes

What Are Sticky Notes?

Sticky Notes let you place digital note cards anywhere on the page of a book in Scroll—great for jotting observations, reminders, or adding your own commentary as you read. They’re movable, editable, and shareable (if enabled), making them useful tools for review and collaboration.

How to Add a Sticky Note

  1. Open the Content
Launch a book (fixed-layout or reflowable) where you want to add a note.
  2. Select the Sticky Notes Tool
In the reader’s toolbar or panel (often on the left side), select the Sticky Notes icon to activate note mode.
  3. Place the Note
Select on the spot in the page where you want your note to appear. A note popup will appear there.
  4. Write Your Note
Enter your comment or reminder in the text field.
  5. Pick a Color
You can choose a color for your note icon from the options in the top panel of the note popup.
  6. Save the Note
Select Save to attach the note to that location.
  7. Share the Note (Optional)
If enabled, you can share the note with your teacher or classmates using the “Share” button.

Accessing & Managing Sticky Notes

  • Go to My Data → Notes to see all your notes (both private and shared).
  • Notes will indicate which chapter/page they belong to.
  • Shared notes or comments will show with who they are shared.
  • Colors help you visually scan different note types.

Filtering Notes

  • In My Data, use the Filter option to narrow down notes by type (e.g. private vs shared) or by color.
  • You can also choose “All” to see every sticky note.
  • Filtering helps if you’ve added many notes and want to focus on a subset.

Tips & Troubleshooting

  • If the Sticky Notes tool isn’t visible, the particular book might have note-features disabled by the publisher.
  • Make sure you’re placing the note after the content has loaded fully (especially in rich/fixed layout content), to avoid misplacement.
  • If you share a note but it doesn’t appear for your teacher/classmates, check whether sharing permissions are enabled and whether the content is synced.
  • Cleaning up old notes can help keep things tidy—delete ones you no longer need.
