Fixed-layout e-books preserve the exact layout, positioning, and pagination of the original printed material—so Scroll displays pages as they were intended (rather than flowing text). Features like images, tables, and formatted text remain locked in place. This makes the fixed layout ideal for content with rich visuals, diagrams, or precise formatting.

Specific Features & How to Use Them
Table of Contents & Navigation
- The TOC opens up hierarchical lists (chapters → sub-chapters → topics) so you can go directly where you need.
- You can expand/collapse sections.
- Selecting an entry in the TOC jumps you to that section immediately.
Bookmarks
- Place a bookmark using the “Bookmark” icon while viewing any page.
- You can name it for easier recall.
- All bookmarks are kept in a “Bookmarks” tab in the TOC/Navigation panel. Pick one to go directly to that page later.
Resources / Markups
- These include embedded links, videos, audio, images, SCORM/interactive content inside the e-book.
- Access them via a “Resources” or “Markups” tab/panel.
- Selecting one will navigate you to the page where that resource is located.
My Data: Highlights & Notes
- Highlights: Select text, highlight it (choose color if available). Use filters by color to show only what you need.
- Sticky / Contextual Notes: Place notes anywhere on page or tied to highlighted text. You can share some notes (if the platform allows) with others (teacher or classmates).
- Access all of your highlights and notes in the “My Data” panel.
Keyword Search (Within Book)
- Use the search box present inside the reader to find specific words/phrases.
- Results show all occurrences; select any to go to that location.
Pen Tool & Annotations
- The pen tool lets you draw, markup, or write freehand on the page.
- Choose color, adjust thickness. There is also an eraser, undo/redo, and clear all option.
- Save your annotations—so they remain linked to the book.
Viewing Modes & Zoom
- Change between Fit to Width or Fit to Height to match your reading preference.
- Toggle between single-page or two-page (spread) view.
- Use thumbnails or page number jump to move to a specific page quickly.
Text-to-Speech (TTS)
- If available, turn on TTS to listen to the content.
- Use the player controls (play/pause, forward/backward sentences), adjust speed or voice.
- Highlighted text may be displayed as narration proceeds, so you can follow along.
Printing & Assessment Submission
- Print: If publisher permissions allow, you can print specific pages or ranges. In the print tool, choose which pages you need.
- Assessment or embedded student content: Fill in any quizzes, text entry, etc., then submit via the reader. Clear/reset if you need to re-enter.
Tips & Troubleshooting
- Fixed layout books are less flexible in terms of reflow—zooming and fit modes are particularly important if you have a small screen.
- If print isn’t enabled, it’s likely due to content/publisher permissions.
- Save notes/annotations often; sometimes navigating away or closing the app might risk losing unsaved data.
- For best results, avoid rotating the device too much; fixed layout can be more sensitive to screen orientation.
